Fall. soon. please…
It’s common for the 90’s to stick around through September, but typically around when we see a change in the weather. Fall brings harvest times for most outdoor growers of any variety. Lots of seasonal festivals and outdoor activities going down for all ages and interests including Cannabis/Hemp Cup competitions. Little change besides mouthing on any perspective law changes, with some ridiculous overreach happening at city/county levels. And, what is going on in the Gardens right now? Let’s cover these in this journal version, so let’s get it on the road.
99% of people I interact with specify Fall as their favorite season. Maybe its the relief in weather from the summer, maybe it’s getting back engaged in the work/school routines. Could also be the abundance of perishiables that typically come available, especially if your into fresh fruits and vegetables. I suspect its a variety of reasons coupled with a warm feeling of family/friends during this final stretch of the year, and yeah, I like Fall too. Anyway, particularly exciting at the Garden as we prepare to launch our Fall crops, which will be ready for the holidays.
Just like you see here, the first frost is magical.
Okay, while we may limit the number of Oktoberfest celebrations this year, BUT we will definitely be at the Taste of Texas Hemp Cup 2024. This will be the 4th year competition in Texas held in Austin, a still very much growing market. The Vibe will not be competing this year, however we are planning on being there in 2025 to claim our recognition as a Top Quality producer in our state. If you are in the Austin area on October 18-20, be sure to check this scene out and keep and eye out for the VIBE.
You won’t find hemp flower like this at the smoke shop, chain dispensary or every bag of factory bud. Side cola from a test run of SkywalkerOG, tops got a little toasty with nice volume and density overall.
Factory Bud = Chock full of leftover nutrients, with a touch of pesticide, violently tumbled into a terpeneless crumbly marble of THC. Avoid the ultra-processing!
So it seems pretty obvious we will not see a federal level change in 2024. The Mary Miller proposal, which would basically stop the US hemp industry in its tracks and seem totally counterproductive for US industry. Meanwhile at the State level, we have local officials enforcing their rules as laws, only to inconvenience business holders, crowd court dockets and waste tax payer dollars. What LEO hates is the “field test” kit for thc is no longer valid, as the chemical reaction involved alters the product, ruling it an invalid test. A more intense lab analysis is used to determine the native qualities of hemp/cannabis, and the legal requirements appy to that. Very frustrating at times from a growers perspective, as the target is to produce a quality legal product. Anyway, maybe you learned something, maybe not…. either way, know your rights before they are taken.
In closing, a quick update on Gardening happenings. We will start the germination process today and expect next week to have some sprouts. Those sprouts will be chosen from a line of candidates to fill the Fall crop and supply some heavy Holiday Cheer! We have a HIGH CBD strain we will be test running, along with the normal exotic spread. If you have interest, we will entertain custom orders between October and Thanksgiving for a Christmas/New Years delivery. Could be that special gift some people have only dreamed about.
PS: Stay away from SuperBud :) Peace out!
