BAM, …another restart !?!
And just like that, have lost a dozen or so great seedling starts to root slime/rot. Not a problem, we are progressing on the reboot and hope our next update will have some better news from the Garden. Now the elections have cleared, we are again hearing pros and cons from each side concerning new/changes in legislation for 2025, our landscape may be evolving. I visited a few smoke shops recently reviewing shelf space and checking prices/products, and will share some observations. Lastly, let’s open some conversations on wellness and the real life benefits of cannabinoids. All this and more, in no particular order with a normal rant.
Such a let down, but the sensitivity involved with organic hydroponics leaves vulnerabilities that must be constantly maintained and mitigated. We have seen a good bit of challenges in our time and root rot spreads quickly, basically rendering most of the plants unrecoverable or undesireable. We grabbed a few experimental clones, busted out some Humbolt Dream beans in reserve and away we go on a restart. Should be a little more stable in the next couple weeks and blast a few pics, nothing to be proud of at this point.
Well then, if you visit a Smoke or Vape shop in Texas (and likely most other states), you now have access to a variety of Hemp Cannabinoids on the shelf to choose from. Over the last 9 months, the products have blossomed to a full variety, whether you want disposables, carts, edibles, dabs, drinks or flower… it is all there and available to you. Some observations, everything is way overpriced with many choices of each. There are many high potency products and many derivitive compounds (thcp, thcv, thco) that would confuse even the seasoned stoner, “where’s the weed”, right? Nothing wrong with products at the shops, but I am going to give you 3 suggestions that may improve your experience.
Stay away from “infused, blends or boosted” products, which are guaranteed to have some of the lesser derivitives. These are typically made in a lab as a chemical reaction/extraction from CBD oil, which leaves some unnatural biproducts that are untested or not identified. Choose “Live Resin, Natural, Organic” when possible and by all means, take note of what and how much of each cannabinoid present for future knowledge.
Look for price breaks. With the amount of products available, inventory at retail pricing is starting to stack. Producers cost is approximately ~30% of retail. so there is a nice fat margin the Distributor/Store have to bargain with you on. In other words, ask for that discount if you dont see one available, these shops will drop up to a 20% discount and if they won’t, the store down the street just might.
Careful with potency. I see these edibles that are available and cannot understand why/how someone would use so much, so of course I have to try it. My sweet spot for edibles is 20 mg and if I dose at 150 mg, the only thing that changes is duration. The 150 mg will basically make me lazy AF for 3 days, is the difference between the doses from my perspective. There are alot of factors that go into edible absorbtion, but my point is start low. Don’t be a meme, dose responsibly :)
Okay, updates on the legislature on both fronts. Federally, the Hemp industry will not get any changes until the FarmBill in mid-2025. The reality is no changes are expected as USDA/DEA testing labs already count Total THC in their approval processes and it is doubtful the feds will ban CBD oils. Now for the State of Texas, as usual the topic is being approached by the extreme. These guys will accept nothing short of a “Ban” when realizing our products have circulated in store fronts freely for 6 years. Please show us the negative impacts there has been, because there are many, many positives that can be quantified/measured. Likely doesn’t matter and word on the hill states we will see some revisions to our THC legal limits regardless of our pleas.
So we continue to wait to see how the THC/Cannabis front impacts the Hemp Industry. Regardless of any law changes, GreenVibe Gardens will continue to pursue green and botanical solutions for our everyday problems. Another item that bothers me about the situation, is the same people who scream “my body, my choice” are fine with others dictating their health by allowing medical mandates and bans for logical solutions. Sounds kinda hypocritical if you ask me,…. it’s okay to abort late term babies, but not enjoy a little cannabis after work, wtf ?!?!
Whatever, plants looking good and I will do the flip them into Flowering mode on 1/6…. be there or be square. Peace out!
