Summer Breeze, makes me feel fine
Summer coming into full effect with the Summer Solstice a week away, spring harvest is curing with the summer crop coming along. The Texas heat makes for a difficult summer run, and we typically focus on doing test grows, lab clean-up during the mid-point for the year. Who knows, i may just take a shot at an entry in the Taste of Texas Hemp Cup coming later this year (Aug/Sept harvest). Let me spit some updates on industry happenings, some garden insights and a crop update for available products.
So while drafts and referrals are submitted now to be reviewed, we have regulatory activity being considered at the State and Federal level now. How fitting the the Marijuana and Cannabis movements are attacking Hemp, by siding with the proposed restrictions. Seriously?!?!, sounds like no home training to me. The state side is not dealing with that, but they do love the word BAN. The Texas Hemp industry presented valid solid points for regulation and controls. I didn’t see this mentioned so will submit myself, but allowing Texas Hemp exclusive access to Texas consumers will also help regulate and control our end products. What’s next? We will know something later this year, Hemp is a multi-billion dollar industry.
Now to keep you educated on growing, i believe i left off discussing strain selection and the wonderful world of terrpins and their benefits. Thats the easy part, for real! We discussed grow areas and needs to control climate conditions, which includes Lights. There are many options these days for lights with the emergence of LEDs. Hell, they have plant light combos available at Home Depot. Don’t use those to grow hemp, besides waste your time, your likely breaking laws by doing that….. thats right, a small house plant. Commercial grows use HDLED systems providing a full spectrum wave of continuous sunshine. GreenVibe uses gear from MarsHydro and SpiderFarms to provide the magic. As a working example, the hardware store setup might be able to get you 50w of LED power, whereas entry level for commercial lights start at 500w. LEDs are quite a bit cooler then previous Sodium bulbs, allowing for small scale deployments. And yes, if you were wondering, there are many “guerilla grows” going on in closets across the world using small LED setups for hobby/experimental use. GrowDiaries has a nice selection of grow logs that demonstrate this for you.
Meanwhile, in the Gardens…
So whats up in the Garden, wheres the weed?!!?!? LOL, Jelly Donutz and Mint Runtz harvested over last weekend and currently going through the drying/curing process. This is the cool part, because its basically our way of preparing the final product for you. Now it takes a minute to slow cool dry, and natural processes turn down the chlorophyl and turn up the goodies. This is ultimately what gives the flower its distinct smell and taste, otherwise you get cut grass. Be patient with us please, I can see a date starting to show for a drop that will refresh the store and it is……. drum roll, mid-July.
We will get you an update next week after a mid-cure peek at the bud, peace out.
